Peter Roy
Emeritus
Peter Roy has been a driving force in America’s natural products industry for more than 30 years, and part of the North Castle team since 1999. He was a founder of one of the original natural products retailers that would become the core of Whole Foods, and served as President of Whole Foods Market, the largest retailer of natural and organic products in the world, from 1993 until 1998. His visionary leadership, industry contacts, and deep insight into consumers of natural products play an invaluable role in the sourcing and assessing of new investment opportunities and the building of successful companies within the natural foods and personal products sectors. Peter has served on the Boards of Directors of three former North Castle portfolio companies: Avalon, Naked Juice, and Bora-Bora Organic Foods, as well as Applegate Farms and United Natural Foods. Peter is also a member of the Board of Directors of Performance Bicycle and Grow Food South Carolina, a non-profit food hub in Charleston. He was previously Chairman of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and an “Entrepreneur in Residence” at Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business. He is also a co-author of “The Book of Hard Choices,” published by Random House in 2007.
